Teaching at The Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne
Here at Verdant Dental, our dentists participate in a range of activities to help to community. Dr Tim Wenas is a clinical supervisor at the Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne. This involves teaching dental students how to communicate with patients as well as how to diagnose and fix problems.
Dr Wenas mentors dental students in their second year to provide the highest quality service to their patients. Learning from lectures and textbooks is one thing – but putting it into practice is totally different! Up to six students per group work co-operatively to learn from each other, providing dental checkups, cleaning, xrays and fillings as they start their career.
Donating to Dental Charities
One common activity for dental students is to participate in charitable dental missions overseas. We’re lucky in Australia to be able to access top quality medical care, but places such as the Philippines, Burma and Vietnam offer suffer. At Verdant Dental, we are constantly investing in the latest and greatest equipment to treat our patients more gently, quietly and quickly for your comfort. The equipment that we replace is still in great condition, and we donate this equipment to dental students to take overseas and give to those less fortunate than us. In the picture above, Dr Tim Wenas is donating some surgical equipment to a student to take to Vietnam.
